  1. Never mind all that worlds best practice bull, when things go wrong with oil and gas it is huge.A metal fabricator in Freo who wasn't getting any work from these mega projects said,"the only stuff we are picking up is repairing defective work".In other words fixing stuff ups made on overseas work.Being the State and Federal govt's are bringing in thousands of these workers to build these mega projects,it stands to reason the risks, especially with time, money and production pressures,of something going wrong are multiplied. The flare stacks at Pluto. And the really massive stuff up in East Timor with the Chinese power stations. What a fiasco! We are seeing time and time again, how these workers bring with them the seriously flawed practices of their homelands. All this haste, rush, rush, rush, cutting corners, rushing the bull for the gate, always comes back to bite these people on the ass. It's not just the governments,it's the companies, the KLC,the Shire, the BCC,and you can bet your bottom dollar,Worksafe and all the other agencies that are supposed to see things are done to the worlds best practice, are all compromised by the powers that pay them.Of course this goes for all the environmental short cuts we have witnessed first hand. All accountability with all these processes has been thrown out the window in this rush to riches. The haste to get carbon sequestration for 40% of Gorgon, only to find a deal had been struck at midnight for the WA taxpayer to pick up the tab if it leaks out.A bill that could hit 10 or 15 billion dollars.Chevron obviously has no confidence in any carbon capture.Look at Bligh with her 100 million dollar stuff up on clean coal. All these things are a long way off.But that won't stop them. What will?

  2. The harsh environment of the tropics, with extreme heat, big cyclones, dust and humidity, all add to the wear and tear on plant and equipment.More reasons that any work done should only be done with the greatest care and the highest standards maintained at all times.A massive failure at a plant with 14 trains?God only knows.

  3. If a high end cat. 5 cyclone does come down this way, what the hell do they do with 6000 workers living in dongas? No way a donga will hold up,no matter what they say. There's nothing in Broome can hold that many.

  6. On ABC rural report,Tue morning,6:50.Bruno Dann,Nyul Nyul elder. He explained how his Gubinge business was going very well, and how he was looking forward to many years of profitable work.He then went on to say that if the gas went ahead at JPP his gubinge business would be finished,"I just won't do it anymore".His gubinge was a bit further north than JPP,but he said it would all be ruined by the gas.The area for the gas was full of wild fruit, many gubinge trees, and the gas will ruin it all.A lot of people picked the trees on the proposed gas site."The gas will ruin it,it will all be gone".The presenter of the rural report said he was going to follow up on the story further. So the billions of tons of pollution from this plant will kill off a lot of jobs, not just on the proposed site itself, but over a very wide area, far outside the boundaries. How many Aboriginal jobs are being killed off by this mega polluting monster?Even now, before it has started, jobs are being lost! What a disasterous idea this accursed plant is.

  8. What would happen if a Cat 5 TC came through? The workers would be sent home to Perth. Where else would they go?
You are aware that cyclones don't just appear on the coast without warning, aren't you?
When the plant is built I would suggest that you don't go trying to steal the gas out of the pipeline or you'll end up like our mexican friends!

  9. The workers would be sent home to Perth? These workers,if this thing ever got off the ground, would come from every city and overseas.Could Broome airport cope with that sudden an increase in travel?Could they find the planes in time?To do this the operators would have to begin evacuating every time a low formed up near Darwin.

  10. As for stealing the gas,yes the poverty and squalor that would be visited on many by this thing, could have a Mexican flavour to it.Rents, food, all prices through the roof.I can't afford a bottle of gas now.So how do you tap into a gas pipeline?
