Secrecy is the problem, not leakers - Opinion - The Sofia Echo

Secrecy is the problem, not leakers - Opinion - The Sofia Echo

Mainstream journalism stands accused of failing to be critical enough of those in authority. Over the economic crash of 2007 and over intelligence and the Iraq war, it failed to challenge the conventional wisdom. It was not a conspiracy or a failure of resource. It was because journalism can be too responsible, balanced and passive. Sometimes journalism needs to be disruptive, critical and even partial.

  1. i really don't get all the cry wolf from the yanks.didn't dick cheney out a couple of cia spys because they said there was no wmd?assange is the hero of our time, they cannot afford to crucify him on so obvious a double standard.of course some places in the world are more a police state than others but with the moral rot left behind by w and dick, surely it would be a stupid move, even by their useless standards.and the death penalty after arizona?who would call for that now?

  2. i suppose when this weather pattern changes, the drought in the south west will become a flood.very worrying as the rivers inland of geraldton and through to esperance flood on 100 mls of rain.when a tropical system impacts there, and it will,3 4 or 500 mls could be more catastrophic than toowoomba.
barnett should be making sure every one has a water tank, hopefully no lead in it,and making some plans as to how they will handle this vast amount of tropical water.blaming bob brown for any stuff up is not acceptable.just as putin now regrets his comment at coppenhagen"i wouldn't mind if moscow was a few degrees warmer".so will barnett rue the day he ever said the future of this state rides on a canal.here colin, lots of water by mother natures sky canal.clean out your gutters and tanks now.
